Amazon Associates Payment Methods: Method-Then-Threshold Overview

Amazon Associates payment methods answer a different question than “did my click qualify?”: once commission income is owed, how does Amazon pay you, and what balance must clear first?

What Amazon’s payment help says

From What payment methods are available? (US help; confirm live):

• Commission income is paid on a monthly basis.
• Approximately 60 days after the end of each month, Amazon sends a cheque, an Amazon Gift Certificate, or deposits commissions into your bank account.
• Bank transfer setup may ask for bank name, account number, sort/routing-style details, and primary account holder name as on bank records.
• Cross-border style setup may require IBAN and BIC when you lack a bank in the country of operations—confirm the fields Central shows you.
• USD 10 minimum before gift certificate or bank-transfer payment is sent; USD 100 minimum before cheque payment is sent (per this US topic).

Program Policies describe the same three option families in Operating Agreement language: direct deposit, Amazon Gift Card, and check—with holds until Payment Minimum Chart amounts, possible check fees, and holds if payment details are missing. Thresholds and timing (confirm live)

Payment Threshold Settings (US; confirm live):

• Direct deposit and gift certificate: you cannot change the threshold; under $10, commissions roll into the next month.
• Check: minimum $100 still applies; you may set a higher personal check threshold via Account Settings → Change Payment Method (select Check, enter amount above $100).
• Threshold changes must be submitted by the first day of the payment month to affect that cycle—help gives calendar examples (confirm live text).
• Custom threshold feature is check-only.

When Will I Get Paid?:

• Payments monthly if balance meets the minimum.
• Tax information must be on file before any payments.
• Same three methods; approximately 60 days after month end.
• Example calendar: January paid late March; February late April; and so on through December → late February next year.
• Gift-certificate example on that page: earn more than the $10 threshold in January → payment issued by end of March.
• Commissions are earned after the order has shipped; cancel / not-yet-shipped / ineligible reasons are listed there—deep column literacy stays on reports.
