If a control name changes, the live tool wins. Do not assume a ratio that is not on the card.

Keep the input under the live size note. Around 12 MB is typical—confirm. A huge camera dump should be resized before you crop, or the page may refuse the file.

Zoom is for sitting the subject inside the box or circle, not for “making it HD.” You cannot invent resolution that was never in the file. The live FAQ says circle crop does not lower quality—it exports at the full crop pixel size with lossless PNG and high-quality resampling. Rotate 90° is for a sideways phone shot. It is not an arbitrary angle tool unless the live page adds one.

Export once. Then stop. If the edges are still wrong, recrop. If the color is still wrong, that is the filters job after the frame is honest.

Square, ratios, and circle crop

Pick the shape the destination actually uses.

Square / rectangle when CMS slots, blog heroes, and story covers need a fixed ratio:

• Free when the subject is an odd shape and the CMS will not force a box
• 1:1 for avatars, some social stills, and square cards
• 16:9 for common blog heroes and landscape video thumbs
• 9:16 for stories and vertical shorts covers
• 4:3 and 3:2 for older photo habits and some thumbnails
• 5:4, 3:4, 2:3 when the slot is portrait-ish but not a story
• 1.85:1 and 2.35:1 when you need a wider cinematic still

Circle when the destination is a round avatar, sticker, or badge-shaped frame and you need empty corners transparent—not black or white boxes. Circle is a mask, not a shirt-print edge cleaner. If the art still has black sides or a fake checkerboard baked into the pixels, that is design extractor, not another circle crop.

If a ratio is added or removed, believe the card. This list is a snapshot of the live tool, not a promise that every future build will match.

Transparent PNG vs JPG

Do not export circle as JPG and expect round transparent corners. Use PNG for any job where empty pixels must stay empty.

Frame versus erase versus extract

Cropping is a frame. Everything outside the box or circle is gone. Everything inside stays, including a person, a logo, or a messy cable. If you needed the person deleted, you needed a background remover—not this URL.

If you needed black sides or a fake checkerboard stripped from badge/logo art for shirts, that is design extractor—Extract-Then-PNG—not a tighter crop of the same square canvas.

Grading is a filter pass: greyscale, invert, brighten. That is Free image filters online. Crop first, then grade, so you are not softening pixels you will throw away.
