Amazon Associates Text Links vs Image Banners: Sentence, Then Creative
Amazon Associates text links vs image banners: Sentence-Then-Creative. Body text vs banners vs item images. Not SiteStripe copy-link. Official Product Linking help.

Amazon Associates text links vs image banners is a placement choice: a sentence in the review, a banner in the sidebar, or an item module with a picture. It is not “how to copy a SiteStripe short link.”
This page is Sentence-Then-Creative. It is not SiteStripe official links. It is not reports click vs purchase (Link-Type columns). It is not paid and boosted ads. Disclosure vs FTC still sits near any creative.
Put a text Special Link in the sentence that names the product. Use an Individual Item Link when the picture is the point. Use banners for category or home—not as a substitute for a review.

Sentence-Then-Creative
SENTENCE-THEN-CREATIVE
1. SENTENCE → Text Link inside the review
2. PRODUCT → Individual Item Link (image ± price / cart)
3. SHELF → Recommended Products (Amazon’s rotating set)
4. CHROME → Banner / Tower (category or home)
5. SEARCH → Search Box (when they do not know the ASIN)
Do not drop a homepage banner in the middle of a desk-lamp paragraph and call it a recommendation. Desk-gear buying guides still need criteria first.
What Amazon lists
From help topic G7FK9JM352U38UAE (confirm live text):
- Individual Item Links — one product; size the image; enhanced option can show updated pricing and Add to Cart. Amazon says those convert better than links without those features, especially on specialized review pages.
- Recommended Products Links — one to nine products matching categories/keywords you choose; titles, images, prices update; often best-sellers in the category.
- Search Box Links — visitor searches Amazon from your page.
- Banner Links — images top/bottom/sides; category or Amazon home; some rotate promotions.
- Text Links — any Amazon page, including product, category, or home; sit inside text blocks such as reviews.
- Add-to-Cart / Quick-Click / Web Services — extra types on the same overview. Open the live topic for those rows; this URL will not document every API.
You still need your Associates tag on Special Links. Beginners owns program fit.
Recommended Products modules rotate Amazon’s picks for a keyword. That is useful on a category explainer and noisy on a page about one SKU. If the article names one lamp, an Individual Item Link matches the sentence. If the article is “desk lighting,” a recommended set may be what Amazon’s help calls cross-merchandise.
Search boxes send people into Amazon search. That is not a review. Use it when the reader truly does not know the product.
Gift-guide intent still needs occasion and budget filters. A banner to “Home” does not do that job.
SiteStripe is a different door
SiteStripe is copy-from-the-product-page. Central Build Links is pick-a-creative-type. Both can produce valid Special Links. Mixing the tutorials on one URL is how cloaking questions get pasted into a banner how-to.

Easy Links / seasonal banners in Amazon’s tools welcome page are still banners. They can rotate. A review of one SKU should not depend on a rotating holiday creative.
Native shopping ads and paid placements that link to Amazon stay on the paid ads owner. This page is organic Product Linking on your site.
